About this tour

This session traces a stretch of Faro's old town walls, still largely intact on the landward side of the Cidade Velha. You see the main wall line and, further along, a quiet corner where a watchtower base survives in the stonework. It shows a structural side of Faro that most beach visitors never notice.

We start with a sound check along the main wall, then move to the quieter corner for the second stop, taking questions about the fortification's age. I send a short note afterwards with what was covered.

It suits anyone interested in medieval defences and how a small city's shape still follows its old boundary, and repeat visitors looking for something beyond the marina. This session stays along public streets beside the walls rather than entering any private courtyards.

Included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Faro before heading out.

  2. The landward wall 15 min

The camera follows a stretch of the medieval wall that still encloses the old town on its landward side, and I explain which sections date to the earliest fortification.

  3. A quiet corner 15 min

We reach a quiet corner where the wall meets a small square, and I point out a watchtower base still visible in the stonework.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Faro: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Cataplana de marisco (seafood stew) and Cidade Velha, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Lisbon time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
