About this tour

This session covers Segovia Cathedral, the last major Gothic cathedral built in Spain, finished well after the style had fallen out of fashion elsewhere. You see the south facade and the tall tower rebuilt after an earlier collapse. I explain why the building earned its nickname among Spanish cathedrals.

We stay close to the building for most of the session, since the facade and tower reward a careful, steady look. I explain the construction timeline and the tower's collapse and rebuild as questions come up. The pace stays relaxed given how much detail there is in one spot.

This suits anyone interested in Gothic architecture and its final chapter in Spain. It also works well paired with the aqueduct session for a fuller sense of the old town's landmarks.

Included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Segovia before heading out.

  2. The cathedral's south facade 15 min

The cathedral was the last major Gothic building raised in Spain, finished well after the style had gone out of fashion elsewhere. I point out details that show its builders were still working confidently in an older style.

  3. The cloister and tower 15 min

From outside, you see the tall tower rebuilt after an earlier one collapsed, and the cloister wall running alongside the square. I explain why this cathedral earned the nickname the Lady of Cathedrals.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Segovia: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Judiones de La Granja and Casco Antiguo, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 7 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
