I grew up in the shadow of the aqueduct, literally two streets from one of its tallest arches, so I have spent my whole life walking underneath two thousand years of granite without a single drop of mortar holding it up. On camera I explain how Roman engineers managed that and then walk toward the cathedral, the last major Gothic building raised in Spain. I studied architecture and still get excited about load-bearing stonework more than most guests expect. I keep the pace slow near the aqueduct, since craning your neck at that scale takes a moment to get used to.
