About this tour
This session looks at Galway's working craft scene through a restored medieval lane and the workshops that now occupy it. You see original stonework alongside the tools and materials of working jewellers and makers, explained by someone trained at the bench himself. It stays close to detail, moving slowly between shopfronts.
After a short sound check at the lane's entrance, I move workshop by workshop, letting each window sit on screen before I explain the craft behind it. I take questions live as they come and send a short note afterwards on the makers currently working in the lane.
It suits anyone interested in craft and jewellery-making, and anyone who wants Galway's working, creative side over its historical monuments.

Kirwan's Lane 15 min
The camera moves through a narrow medieval lane restored as craft workshops, and I point out details in the stonework that survive from the lane's merchant-era origins.

You see tools and half-finished pieces through a workshop window, and I explain the Claddagh ring tradition from my own training as a jeweller.

Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Galway: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Brown bread and Claddagh, worth a slower look.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 7 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
