The Crown Tribunal and market square
Highlights
- The court that judged the Polish nobility
- Vaulted cellars older than the building above
- Original facades versus postwar rebuilding
- Lublin's market square, explained in depth
- Civic history behind a well-known square
About this tour
This session centres on the Crown Tribunal, once the highest court for the Polish nobility, and the market square around it. You see the building itself, the older vaulted cellars beneath it, and the wider square from across the way. It is a closer look at the legal and civic history behind Lublin's best-known square.
We begin at the Tribunal with a short sound check, then move underground to the cellars before finishing back on the square itself. I explain the court's history as we go and take questions throughout, and a written list of the buildings follows afterwards.
It suits anyone interested in legal or civic history rather than just architecture. It also works well paired with a shorter session on the Krakow Gate for a fuller picture of the old town.
Included

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 6 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lublin before heading out.
-
Crown Tribunal building 17 min
The session opens at the building that once housed the highest royal court for the Polish nobility, and I explain how cases from across the region were once settled here.
-
Old Town Hall cellars 17 min
We move to the cellars beneath the building, and you see the vaulted brick chambers that are far older than the structure standing above them today.
-
Market square perimeter 17 min
From the far side of the square, the camera looks back across the whole space, and I point out which facades are original and which were rebuilt after wartime damage.
-
Your questions 11 min
Time to ask anything about Lublin: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 5 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pierogi and Srodmiescie, worth a slower look.
Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
