Salamanca's oldest university, a planning call
Highlights
- What to look for, explained first
- A route matched to your time
- A former student's own shortlist
- The carved frog, precisely located
- Notes sent after the call
About this tour
This is a short planning call about the University of Salamanca rather than a live walk past its facade. I talk through what to look for on the carving and which nearby buildings are worth including in your own visit. You leave with a route built around your own time.
We start with how much time you have and what else you want to see nearby, then I build the plan from there. I answer questions about the university's history as they come up, since I studied here myself. At the end I send over notes on what to look for and where.
This suits anyone planning their own visit who wants a former student's shortlist rather than a generic guide. It also suits viewers who cannot visit but want the history explained properly.

Itinerary
-
Hello, and what you want to know 5 min
The guide calls you and asks what you are after: planning Salamanca, recommendations, or just questions.
-
What to look for 17 min
I talk through what to actually look for on the university's facade and in the surrounding streets before your own visit, including where the famous carved frog sits. You tell me how much time you have and I build a route around it.
-
Your questions 5 min
Ask anything that is still on your mind, there is no fixed script.
-
A written note after the call 3 min
You get a short follow-up message with everything mentioned, so you do not have to remember it all.
Good to know
- A stable phone or internet connection, whichever the guide uses to reach you.
- No app to install. You answer when the guide calls, or join a video call if you would rather.
- Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The call is not recorded. Keep your own note of anything you want to remember, or wait for the follow-up message.
- Have your questions ready, though there is time to think of more as you go.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
