Barrio Santa Cruz, the old Jewish quarter on foot

- A square without a monument
- Tiled names on old doorways
- History before the 1492 expulsion

About this tour
This session walks through Barrio Santa Cruz, the medieval Jewish quarter of narrow lanes, from one of its tightest streets to the small square of Plaza de Doña Elvira. You see how close the walls actually sit to each other, something photographs rarely capture properly. The route covers ground slowly, since the detail is in the doorways and tiles rather than any single monument.
We begin with a short check of the light in the lane, then move gradually toward the square, pausing to look at tiled house names along the way. I answer questions about the quarter's history as we go and send a short note on the 1492 expulsion afterward for anyone who wants more detail.
This suits anyone who prefers wandering a neighbourhood to visiting a single site, and travellers curious about Jewish history in Spain. It also works well early in the morning before the lanes fill with other visitors.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Seville before heading out.
-
A whitewashed lane 21 min
The camera moves through one of the narrowest lanes in the quarter, walls close enough on both sides to touch, and I explain how the layout dates back to the medieval Jewish quarter before the 1492 expulsion.
-
Plaza de Doña Elvira 21 min
You see a small square with orange trees and a central fountain, more a place where residents gather than a monument, and I point out the tiled house names on several doorways.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Seville: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Jamón ibérico and Barrio Santa Cruz, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
