About this tour

This session walks Rustaveli Avenue with an architect's eye, naming the periods behind its facades, balconies and theatre fronts. You see 19th-century ironwork, theatre entrances and a Soviet-era cinema sign side by side. It follows one stretch of the avenue rather than its full length.

We move slowly between three or four buildings, since each one belongs to a different period worth explaining on its own. I point out the details and take architecture questions throughout.

It suits anyone with an interest in buildings rather than only monuments, and travellers who want the avenue explained layer by layer.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

  • Internet connection
  • Travel to the city

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Tbilisi before heading out.

  2. A 19th-century apartment facade 17 min

The camera holds on a cast-iron balcony from a 19th-century apartment building, and I explain what era of the avenue's growth it belongs to.

  3. The Rustaveli Theatre entrance 17 min

I stop at the theatre's entrance and point out the detailing above the doors, comparing it with buildings further down the avenue.

  4. An old cinema sign 17 min

I show a restored cinema sign from the Soviet period, and explain how the avenue's buildings mix several very different eras side by side.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Tbilisi: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Georgian qvevri wine and Old Tbilisi, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Tbilisi time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
