About this tour

This session follows Schönbrunn's gardens from the palace forecourt to the Gloriette on the hill behind it. You see the palace's long yellow facade, the formal garden's central axis and finally the Gloriette itself, framing a view back over the whole grounds. It is a session built around the sightline the Habsburgs deliberately designed into the landscape.

I walk the central axis at an easy pace, explaining the garden's design as the view opens up gradually. Questions come in throughout, and I answer them as we climb toward the Gloriette. A short note on the wider grounds follows once we finish.

This suits anyone who wants Schönbrunn's gardens properly rather than a quick pass toward the palace facade. It also works well earlier in the day, before the grounds fill up.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Vienna before heading out.

  2. Palace Facade 21 min

You see Schönbrunn's long yellow facade from the forecourt, the summer residence built for the Habsburg family on a genuinely grand scale.

  3. Great Parterre 21 min

The camera follows the formal garden's central axis, laid out deliberately to draw the eye straight toward the hill behind the palace.

  4. Gloriette View 21 min

From the garden's rise, you see the Gloriette monument crowning the hill, framing a view back down over the palace and the city beyond.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Vienna: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Apfelstrudel and Leopoldstadt, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Vienna time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
