About this tour
This session looks at Cork's civic history through the building that replaced one destroyed in 1920, seen from the river approach and the square in front of it. You see the scale of the 1930s design and hear the documented history of the earlier building's destruction. It stays outdoors, working from the exterior and its riverside setting.
After a short sound check by the river, I walk the site stop by stop, explaining what stood here before and how the new building was meant to answer that loss. I take questions live and send a short note afterwards with further reading on the period.
It suits anyone interested in Irish 20th-century history, and anyone curious about how a city rebuilds its own institutions after a loss.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
