About this tour

This session follows the climb up Clérigos Tower and the view it opens up over Porto's rooftops. Marisa shows the narrow spiral stairs inside, a detail invisible from outside the tower. At the top, she points out landmarks across the city, tying the view back to the streets below.

Marisa paces the climb steadily, checking the picture holds in the narrow stairwell before reaching the open top. She takes her time at the summit, naming landmarks as questions come up rather than rushing through them. A short note on the best time of day for this view follows the session.

This suits anyone who wants Porto's best-known view without personally managing the queue and the stairs. It also works well as an overview session before exploring specific districts on their own.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Porto before heading out.

  2. The climb up 15 min

The camera holds steady on the narrow spiral stairs inside the tower, a detail most photos of the tower from outside never show. Marisa explains how many steps remain and why the climb feels longer than it looks.

  3. The view from the top 15 min

At the top, Porto's rooftops spread out in every direction, the river and the bridge visible on a clear day. Marisa points out landmarks by name, tying the view back to earlier sessions in the old town.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Porto: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Port wine and Vila Nova de Gaia, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Lisbon time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
