Topanas lanes toward the water
Highlights
- Stonework above modern shopfronts
- A former Venetian merchant quarter
- Galleries in old buildings
- A quiet route to the water
- History explained at street level
About this tour
This session walks Topanas, a former Venetian quarter now known for small galleries, down toward the harbourfront. You see original stonework hidden above modern shopfronts and hear how the neighbourhood's position shaped its history as a trading district. It stays within a few short lanes throughout.
I walk at a relaxed pace, pointing out details easy to miss at street level, and take questions as they come. The route ends at the water, tying the quarter back to the harbour it once served.
This suits anyone who wants a quieter walk with an eye for architecture. It also pairs well with the Jewish quarter session on a different day.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
