A pyramid, a mosaic and what they show
Highlights
- A former museum's unusual angles
- A mural covering an entire facade
- Two buildings, two public statements
- Figures and periods, read off a wall
- Public art across a changing century
About this tour
This session pairs two very different pieces of public art from opposite ends of the twentieth century. You see the sloped walls of a former museum turned cultural space, then a long mural covering a nearby museum's facade. It moves between two buildings that both used art to make a public statement.
I explain the pyramid's original purpose first, since its odd angles only make sense once you know why it was built, then spend longer on the mural's individual figures. Questions about either are welcome throughout.
This suits anyone interested in how public art has been used to represent the city at different points. It also suits anyone who has already photographed both buildings and wants the story behind them.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
