The Museumsufer, a row of museums along the Main
Highlights
- More than a dozen museums, one stretch of river
- Smaller collections worth knowing about
- Two riverbanks, two different characters
- A cultural overview before choosing where to go
- A dense museum district, walked in full
About this tour
This session walks the Museumsufer, a riverside stretch holding more than a dozen museums, and looks across at the old town skyline on the opposite bank. You see how densely the city has packed cultural institutions into one short walk. It moves steadily along the riverside path.
We walk at an easy pace, and I point out specific museums and what makes each one worth knowing as we go, rather than only naming the largest. Questions about smaller collections come naturally. A short list of museums worth knowing follows by message.
It suits anyone planning a museum-focused visit who wants an overview before choosing where to spend time. It also pairs well with the Städel session for more depth on one collection.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
