Klein Venedig's fishermen's houses
Highlights
- Houses with gardens dropping into the river
- A fishing quarter still standing today
- Half-timbering along a quiet waterway
- Bamberg's most photographed row of houses
- Riverside life, largely unchanged
About this tour
This session follows Klein Venedig, Bamberg's row of former fishermen's houses along the Regnitz. You see the half-timbered facades and the gardens that drop straight into the river behind them. It is a slow, visual look at one of the town's most distinctive streets.
I move at an easy pace along the water, pointing out which houses lean furthest and why. Questions are welcome throughout, and I send a short note afterwards on the fishing families who once lived here.
This suits anyone who wants a calmer, more visual session than a detailed history walk. It also pairs well with the Old Town Hall session for a fuller riverside picture.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

From the water's edge, the camera looks back at one garden in particular, and I explain how families here once worked directly from their own back doors.

Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
