Shoreditch's street art on the side walls
Highlights
- A mural negotiated directly with an owner
- Fragments of older work underneath
- Street art that changes every few months
- Side streets away from the main road
- A visual, ever-changing session
About this tour
This session walks Shoreditch's side streets for the largest and most current street art, since the murals here change every few months as older pieces get painted over. It covers how artists typically negotiate directly with building owners and how walls end up layered with fragments of earlier work. It is a visual, ever-changing session rather than a fixed historical route.
We start at a large mural with the negotiation process explained, then move to a layered wall for the fragments underneath. Questions about specific artists come up steadily, and I answer what I know from years photographing the area myself. I close with a note on which walls change most often.
It suits art enthusiasts and photographers curious about street art specifically. It also suits repeat visitors, since the content genuinely changes between visits.

Itinerary

Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of London before heading out.
-
Large-scale mural 21 min
The camera holds on a full building-side mural, and I explain how the artist usually negotiates directly with the building owner rather than needing council permission.
-
Layered wall 21 min
Further along, you see a wall with several pieces painted over each other, and I point out fragments of older work still visible at the edges.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about London: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Fish and chips and Soho, worth a slower look.

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
