About this tour

This call covers the history of Majdanek, the former camp on the edge of Lublin, through maps and photographs rather than a live video walk. I explain what happened there and how the site is preserved today. By the end you have a clearer sense of the history and how to approach the subject.

We start with a short introduction, then I share images and answer questions as they come up, keeping the tone factual throughout. I am happy to go into as much or as little depth as you want, and I send a short list of further reading afterwards.

It suits anyone who wants historical context before visiting the memorial themselves. It also pairs well with the Grodzka Gate session for a fuller picture of the region's Jewish history.

The guide calls you and asks what you are after: planning Lublin, recommendations, or just questions.

  2. Understanding Majdanek 17 min

I talk through the history of the camp on the edge of the city using maps and photographs, answering questions and suggesting how to approach the memorial respectfully if you plan to go.

  3. Your questions 5 min

  4. A written note after the call 3 min

You get a short follow-up message with everything mentioned, so you do not have to remember it all.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
