Ķemeri's grand sulphur bath building
Highlights
- A grand 1930s spa building, from outside
- Mineral-water treatments, explained
- Overgrown gardens, once formal paths
- Interwar architecture at the resort's edge
- A history told without going inside
About this tour
This session stands outside the grand sulphur baths building at Ķemeri and walks its former gardens. You see the 1930s facade that once anchored the resort's mineral-water treatments, then the overgrown grounds where guests used to walk between treatments. It is a short history lesson told from outside a closed building.
I start with a sound check at the front steps, then move around the exterior and gardens at an easy pace, answering questions as we go. A short note on the building's current restoration follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone interested in spa history or interwar architecture. It also works well alongside a bog or nature session at Ķemeri.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
