What a rebuilt city still remembers
Highlights
- Photographs from the siege years, explained plainly
- A former front line, now an ordinary street
- Marks left, and buildings fully rebuilt
- A quieter river path away from the centre
- Recent history explained without exaggeration
About this tour
This longer session moves through three stops that trace how Mostar has handled its recent history. You see photographs inside a museum built around the siege years, then a street that was once the front line and is now simply a street again, then a quieter riverside path further out. It follows the city's own pace of rebuilding rather than a single monument.
I explain the history plainly at each stop and let the material speak for itself rather than adding anything extra. The pace slows at the museum and picks up again once we are outside along the river.
This suits anyone who wants an honest look at Mostar's recent history rather than a version that avoids it. It also suits anyone who prefers to understand a city's present by seeing how it dealt with its past.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Mostar before heading out.
-
War Museum Exhibit Hall 21 min
The camera moves through a hall of photographs documenting the siege years, and I explain what is shown plainly and without exaggeration, since the material speaks for itself.
-
Bulevar Street By Day 21 min
You see a street that once marked the front line, now lined with ordinary shops and cafes, and I point out which buildings still show marks from that period and which have been fully rebuilt.
-
Liska Riverside Path 21 min
The camera follows a quieter path along the river away from the old town, and I explain how this stretch has changed since the war compared with the more visited streets nearer the bridge.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Mostar: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Dolma and Old Town, worth a slower look.

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
