About this tour

This session looks at Hacı Bayram Mosque and its unusual position beside the Roman temple next door. You see the mosque's tiled exterior first, then a quiet corner of its courtyard still in daily use. Together the two sites, built centuries apart, show how Ankara's old city layers its history in a single small square.

I begin with a sound check outside the mosque, then we move into the courtyard while you ask questions about the two buildings sharing this space. I point out details added during later renovations. At the end I send a short note on the history we covered.

This suits anyone interested in how different eras sit side by side in the old city. It also works well paired with the Temple of Augustus session next door.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Ankara before heading out.

  2. Mosque Exterior 15 min

The camera looks over the mosque's tiled exterior, built directly beside the old Roman temple. I explain how the two structures ended up sharing the same small square.

  3. Courtyard Corner 15 min

You see a quiet corner of the courtyard, still used for prayer. I point out small architectural details added during later renovations.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Ankara: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Turkish tea and Kızılay, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
