Cabo Raso, the quiet headland west of Guincho
Highlights
- Small lighthouse on a quiet headland
- Old fort guarding the point
- Flat rock shelf meeting the Atlantic
- Birds gathering away from the crowds
- A calmer contrast to Guincho beach
About this tour
This session moves along the headland at Cabo Raso, a lower and quieter point just west of Guincho beach. You see the small lighthouse and fort that once watched this stretch of coast, then the flat rock shelf where the Atlantic meets land more gently than at the open beach nearby. It is one of the least visited corners of the Cascais coastline shown here on camera.
We check the connection first, then walk the headland in two short stops, leaving time at each for questions about the lighthouse and the birdlife on the rocks. I send a short note afterwards with the names of what you saw and a map of the point.
It suits anyone who prefers a quieter, wilder stretch of coast to a busy beach, and travellers who enjoyed Guincho and want to see what lies just beyond it. No transport or activity is included, only the walk on camera.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Cascais before heading out.
-
The lighthouse and fort 15 min
The camera shows the low white lighthouse and the small fort beside it, and I explain why this quieter point guarded the approach to Cascais long before the resort existed.
-
The rock shelf 15 min
You see the flat rock shelf below the point where the swell breaks differently to Guincho, and I point out the birds that gather here away from the crowds.
-
Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Cascais: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Arroz de marisco (seafood rice) and Baia de Cascais, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Lisbon time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
