Plaza Nueva to the Albaicín, a first crossing
Highlights
- A boundary marked by a square
- A covered river beneath the street
- Turns named, not just described
- A quarter that confuses newcomers
- A route sent to keep
About this tour
This session crosses from Plaza Nueva into the Albaicín, from the square marking the old boundary to the first steep lane climbing into the quarter. You see the exact turns that matter for anyone finding their own way up later. The route stays short, built specifically to remove the confusion a first visit usually brings.
We begin at Plaza Nueva with a quick check of the light, then walk the first climbing lane, pausing at each turn to name the landmark marking it. I answer questions as we go and send a short written route afterward.
This suits anyone about to explore the Albaicín on their own for the first time, and travellers who prefer a clear starting point to wandering blind. It works well as a short session before a longer, independent walk.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide
- Questions to your guide all the way
- A short list of places to visit later

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Granada before heading out.
-
Plaza Nueva 15 min
The camera settles on Plaza Nueva, the square marking the boundary between the old town and the Albaicín, and I point out the channel running alongside it, a remnant of a river now mostly covered over.
-
The first climbing lane 15 min
You see the first steep lane climbing into the Albaicín, and I name the landmarks that mark each turn, since the quarter's layout confuses first-time visitors more than most.
-
Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Granada: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Remojón granadino and Sacromonte, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
