Truso Valley's mineral springs and abandoned villages
Highlights
- Mineral springs bubbling from the ground
- Orange and white mineral deposits
- A village abandoned near the border
- Truso Valley's quiet, remote floor
- Geology and history side by side
About this tour
This session follows the floor of Truso Valley past its mineral springs and the remains of villages abandoned near the border. You see the orange and white mineral deposits first, then a bubbling spring itself, and finally a stretch of abandoned stone walls. It is the most remote of the sessions based around Stepantsminda.
We move slowly along the valley floor, stopping wherever a spring or a ruin is worth a proper look, and I keep the geology and the history separate so neither gets rushed. Questions work well throughout since the pace stays gentle.
It suits anyone drawn to quieter, less visited corners of the mountains, and travellers with an interest in geology or the region's recent history.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
