Inside Santa Croce, among the tombs
Highlights
- Tombs of significant Florentines, named
- A church that became a resting place
- History read stone by stone
- A quiet, respectful pace throughout
- Names most visitors walk straight past
About this tour
This session goes inside Santa Croce to look at the tombs of some of Florence's most significant historical figures. You see floor tombs along the nave identified one by one, and Michelangelo's tomb examined in more detail. The camera moves slowly and stays fairly still at each stop, matching the calm of the space.
We move quietly between tombs rather than covering the whole church quickly, since the names themselves carry most of the interest. I explain why the church became such a significant burial site as we go, and take questions throughout.
It suits anyone with an interest in Florentine history told through its most significant graves. It also pairs well with a session on the church's exterior.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
