Nebet Tepe: Plovdiv's oldest hill
Highlights
- The oldest fortified hill in the city
- Walls older than the Roman city below
- A summit view over the Old Town
- Thracian Plovdiv, explained
- History older than Rome itself
About this tour
This session climbs Nebet Tepe, the hill holding Plovdiv's oldest fortified settlement. You follow the path up, then reach the summit, where surviving sections of ancient wall look out over the newer Old Town below. The session covers the hill's compact summit.
We open with a short sound check partway up the climb. I keep a formal, detailed pace and take questions about the Thracian period as we go. Afterwards I send a short note on the settlement's different phases.
This suits anyone with a serious interest in Plovdiv's ancient history before the Romans arrived. It also works well paired with the Ancient Theatre session.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
