About this tour

This session takes in two of the park's best known natural sights, a waterfall dropping from a high mountain lake and a viewpoint said to be named after a royal visit. You see the water in close detail at Torc and the wide sweep of the lakes from height at Ladies View. It moves between the two at a relaxed pace with proper time at each.

After a short sound check at the waterfall, I walk the route stop by stop, explaining the geology and the history behind each name. I take questions live and send a short note afterwards on nearby walking trails for anyone who wants to explore further on their own.

It suits anyone who wants a classic look at Killarney's landscape, and anyone planning their own drive or walk through the park afterwards.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Killarney before heading out.

  2. Torc Waterfall 21 min

The camera takes in the 20-metre waterfall from the base of the path, and I explain how the water drops from the Devil's Punch Bowl lake high above.

  3. Ladies View 21 min

You see the lakes spread out below a well known viewpoint, and I explain the story behind its name, tied to a visit by Queen Victoria's ladies-in-waiting.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Killarney: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Killarney lake trout and Muckross, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Dublin time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
