  • Merchant wealth written into stone

About this tour

This session studies a former warehouse facade in Merchant City before turning into a converted loading close nearby. You see carved trade symbols on the old sandstone front and a service route repurposed as a pedestrian lane. Bronagh explains what the carvings originally referred to and how these old buildings have been reused.

After a short sound check at the facade, the session moves round the corner to the close, with time for questions throughout. Bronagh answers as you go and sends a short note afterwards on other Merchant City buildings worth noticing.

It suits anyone interested in how trading wealth shaped a city's architecture, and works well for those who enjoy carved stone detail. It also appeals to architecture and design fans.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking".
