The working harbour below Monte Urgull
Highlights
- A working harbour below the hill
- Boats and counters, barely any distance apart
- One of the coast's oldest ports
- The catch, sold where it lands
- San Sebastián's seafood, traced to source
About this tour
This session shows the working fishing harbour below Monte Urgull, one of the oldest ports on this stretch of the Basque coast. You see small boats still working the water and stalls nearby selling the catch directly. Naia connects the harbour back to the market hall she covers in her other session.
The walk stays close to the water, with Naia explaining the harbour's daily rhythms as boats come and go. She answers questions about the fishing fleet's size and history as they come up.
This suits anyone who wants to see where San Sebastián's seafood actually comes from. It pairs naturally with Naia's market session for the fuller sea-to-counter picture.

Working harbour 15 min
The camera looks over small fishing boats still working out of the harbour below Monte Urgull, one of the oldest working ports on this stretch of coast.

Harbourside stalls 15 min
A few stalls near the water sell the day's catch directly, and I explain how little distance separates the boats from the counters selling what they bring in.
-

Time to ask anything about San Sebastian: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Idiazábal cheese and Centro, worth a slower look.
Good to know

- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
