- Traditional Alpine joinery explained

About this tour
This session looks closely at the carved wooden balconies found throughout the Bernese Oberland, using a handful of examples in Unterseen. You see the joinery pattern on a single balcony in close detail and a workshop still repairing older woodwork using traditional methods. Simone explains what the different carved patterns once signified for the households that commissioned them.
She spends most of the time on one balcony before moving briefly past the workshop, keeping the session tightly focused rather than a wider walk. Questions about specific patterns are welcome throughout.
This suits anyone with an interest in traditional craft or woodworking specifically. It pairs naturally with the broader Unterseen old town session.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
