About this tour

This walk follows Sighnaghi's eighteenth-century defensive wall and one of its surviving watchtowers. You see inside a tower built to watch the Alazani valley for raiders, then the wall's line along the ridge above town. It focuses on the wall as a military structure rather than the view it happens to offer.

We spend the first part of the call inside the tower itself, since the stonework there is worth a close look, then follow the wall's outer edge. I explain what each section was rebuilt or repaired, and I take questions along the way.

It suits anyone interested in Georgian military history, and it works well alongside a valley viewpoint session for a fuller picture of the walls.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Sighnaghi before heading out.

  2. A watchtower along the wall 21 min

The camera climbs inside one of the surviving watchtowers, and I explain how the twenty-three towers were spaced to watch the valley below for raiders.

  3. The wall's line above the valley 21 min

We follow the wall along its ridge, and I point out where it was rebuilt after a nineteenth-century earthquake damaged the original stonework.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Sighnaghi: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Kakhetian qvevri wine and Old Town, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Tbilisi time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
