About this tour

This session walks the Jardim Publico de Evora, a public garden built around the ruins of a royal palace on the edge of the old town. You see the palace's remaining arches among the trees, then the open lawns where peacocks tend to gather. It is one of the quietest, greenest corners inside the city's walls.

We start with a sound check near the ruins, then move to the lawns for the second stop, following the peacocks at their own pace rather than a fixed schedule. I send a short list of what we saw afterwards.

It suits anyone who wants a calmer, outdoor side of Evora away from its stone monuments, and families deciding whether the garden suits a visit. The peacocks roam freely, so what the camera catches varies session to session.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Evora before heading out.

  2. The palace ruins 15 min

The camera shows the ruined arches of the old royal palace standing among the garden's trees, and I explain which king once used these grounds.

  3. The lawns and peacocks 15 min

We move across the open lawns where the garden's peacocks usually gather, and I point out the shaded paths that keep this corner of Evora cool even in summer.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Evora: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Carne de porco a alentejana (pork with clams) and Historic centre, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Lisbon time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
