The old lanes behind Shoemakers' Bridge
Highlights
- A bridge named for a trade long gone
- Façade details missed by most walking through
- A corner that kept its character intact
- Ljubljana's old town, off the main route
- A quieter pocket most visitors skip past
About this tour
This longer session follows the quieter lanes behind Shoemakers' Bridge, away from the busiest crossings and squares. You see an older bridge named for a vanished trade, a narrow lane with details most visitors miss, and a corner that has kept its character while the centre changed around it. It stays in this one quieter pocket of the old town.
I move at a relaxed pace through the narrow lanes, pause at each corner for questions, and point out details that are easy to miss when walking quickly.
This suits anyone who wants a quieter side of the old town beyond the main square. It also suits return visitors looking for streets they have not covered before.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide
- Questions to your guide all the way
- A short list of places to visit later

You see the older, quieter bridge named for the trade once based nearby, and I explain how different it feels compared with the busier crossings just up the river.

The camera moves into a narrow lane behind the bridge, and I point out details on the older façades that most people miss while heading straight for the main square.

We finish at a quiet corner further along, and I describe how this stretch has kept its older character while streets closer to the centre have changed around it.

-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Potica and Center, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Ljubljana time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
