About this tour

This walk covers old Tbilisi's religious and architectural mix, from the sulphur bathhouses of Abanotubani to Narikala fortress above the city. You see the brick domes fed by natural hot springs, a waterfall tucked into Leghvtakhevi gorge behind them, and the Juma mosque where Sunni and Shia Muslims pray under one roof. Within a few streets nearby, churches and a synagogue sit close together as well.

The call opens with a sound check at the baths, then climbs gradually towards the fortress, stopping at the gorge and each place of worship along the way. Questions come as the walk goes, and a short list of the sites and their history follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone interested in how different communities have lived side by side in Tbilisi's old town. It also suits those who want the view from Narikala explained rather than just photographed.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Tbilisi before heading out.

  2. Abanotubani baths 21 min

In Abanotubani, the camera holds on the brick domes of the sulphur bathhouses, half sunk into the ground, the guide explaining how the natural hot springs still feed them today.

  3. Leghvtakhevi gorge 21 min

Behind the baths, the guide follows the path into Leghvtakhevi gorge to the small waterfall tucked between the buildings, easy to miss from the street above.

  4. Narikala fortress 21 min

Above the old town, the camera reaches Narikala fortress and the Mother of Georgia statue, the guide pointing out the Juma mosque and the churches and synagogue clustered in the streets just below.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Tbilisi: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Khachapuri and Old Tbilisi, worth a slower look.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
