The Trave river, around the old town island
Highlights
- A river almost encircling a city
- A bridge crossing explained
- Water levels managed by canal
- A calm riverside walk on camera
- Lübeck's shape, told through water
About this tour
This session follows the Trave river around part of Lübeck's old town island, showing how the water almost entirely surrounds the medieval core. You see the riverbank path and a bridge crossing where the water level is managed. Torben explains the river's role in shaping the city's layout.
The walk covers two points along the water at an easy pace, timed for calm conditions where possible. Torben answers questions about the river and its management.
This suits anyone wanting a scenic, easy session outdoors. It works well alongside his Travemünde session on the coast.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
