About this tour

This session looks at La Malmaison, a small exhibition space on La Croisette that most visitors walk straight past on the way to the beach. You see the modest former casino annexe it occupies and the courtyard used for outdoor pieces between shows. It is a short session about a building easy to miss on a busier boulevard.

We spend time at the facade before moving round to the courtyard, since the building's quiet exterior gives little away. I answer questions about the current exhibition or the building's history as they come up. A short note on what is currently showing follows the call.

This suits anyone with an interest in art who wants something smaller than the city's bigger museums. It also works well as a short add-on to a Croisette walk.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

  • Internet connection

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Cannes before heading out.

  2. The former casino annexe 15 min

The camera looks at the modest building most visitors walk straight past on the way to the beach, once an annexe to a grand casino that no longer stands. I explain how it came to hold exhibitions instead.

  3. The courtyard 15 min

Round the side, you see a small courtyard used for outdoor pieces when the current exhibition allows it. I point out how the space changes completely between shows.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Cannes: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Socca and Vieux Port, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 11 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
