Rose Valley at sunset on camera
Highlights
- Rock catching a pink tone at dusk
- Where the valley's name comes from
- Bands of colour from volcanic history
- A high viewpoint at the right moment
- A valley that catches light differently
About this tour
This session follows Rose Valley as the light shifts toward sunset, ending at a high viewpoint where the colour change is clearest. You see the path into the valley, a cliff face with visible bands of colour, and finally the full effect from above as the rock turns pink and orange. Each stop builds toward the same moment at the top.
I open with a sound check on the path, then we move up toward the viewpoint while you ask questions about the geology. I time the final stop carefully, since the best colour only lasts a short while. Afterwards I send a short note on the timing for future sessions.
This suits anyone drawn to Cappadocia's colours rather than only its history. It also suits a traveller planning their own sunset visit who wants to know when to arrive.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

- A short list of places to visit later
Not included

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Cappadocia before heading out.
-
Rose Valley Approach 21 min
The camera follows a path toward the valley as the rock starts to catch a pink tone in the late light. I explain where the valley's name actually comes from.
-
Layered Rock Face 21 min
You see a cliff face with visible bands of colour running through it. I point out how each band formed at a different point in the region's volcanic history.
-
Sunset Viewpoint 21 min
From a high point in the valley, the camera takes in the full colour change as the sun drops. I explain why this particular valley catches the light differently from its neighbours.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Cappadocia: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Testi kebab (pottery kebab) and Uçhisar, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Istanbul time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
