About this tour

This short session looks at Vallon des Auffes, a working fishing cove barely wide enough for its own boats, and the small chapel built into the rock above it. You see how little the cove's layout has changed and why the chapel sits exactly where it does. It is a small, quiet session built around one corner of the coastline.

We stay close to the cove for most of the call, moving only as far as the chapel above it. Questions come in throughout, and I will hold the camera on any boat or detail someone wants a longer look at. A short note on the cove's history follows the call.

This suits anyone who prefers small, specific places over broader tours. It also pairs naturally with a longer session along La Corniche nearby.

Included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Marseille before heading out.

  2. The cove entrance 15 min

The camera looks down into the narrow channel where small fishing boats squeeze past each other on the way out to sea. I point out how little the layout has changed in old photographs of the same spot.

  3. The chapel above the water 15 min

A short walk up, you see a small chapel built into the rock above the cove, still used by local fishing families. I explain why it was placed exactly there rather than higher up the hill.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Marseille: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Navettes and Vieux-Port, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
