Sataplia's dinosaur footprints and karst caves
Highlights
- Dinosaur footprints millions of years old
- Karst caves with stalactites and pools
- Limestone shaped by water over time
- The region's ancient past, underfoot
- A pair to Prometheus Cave nearby
About this tour
This session covers Sataplia Nature Reserve, known for its fossilised dinosaur footprints and karst caves just outside Kutaisi. You see a row of footprints pressed into stone, then one of the reserve's cave chambers with its own stalactites and pools. It links the region's deep past to the ground still visible underfoot.
We spend the first part of the call on the footprints, since they need a close, steady camera to read properly, then move into the cave. I explain the timescales involved for both and answer questions as we go.
It suits anyone curious about the region's ancient past, and it pairs naturally with a Prometheus Cave session the same day.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
