I have been exploring the caves around Kutaisi since I was old enough to hold a torch, so Prometheus Cave and Sataplia feel more like home ground than a tour route to me. On camera I keep the light steady on the formations for as long as it takes to explain how they actually grew, rather than moving quickly from chamber to chamber. I studied geology at university, which comes in useful when someone asks exactly how old a particular stalactite really is. I want people to leave with a real sense of the timescales involved, not just a memory of a nice cave.
