About this tour
This session follows the Thames path from central Greenwich towards the Cutty Sark, a preserved tea clipper visible above its dry dock from the public path outside. It covers the river's tidal patterns and the ship's history at the end of the sailing trade era. It draws on years spent working on the river itself rather than a general history summary.
We start on the path with the tides explained, then walk towards the dry dock for the ship's own story. Questions about the river and its shipping history come up steadily, and I answer with direct experience from years crewing boats here. I close with a note on the best tide times for river photography.
It suits maritime history enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys a proper riverside walk. It also suits photographers curious about how the tides change the view.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
