About this tour

This session crosses the Meadows before ending at George Square, looking at how the university has grown into this part of the city. You see the tree-lined avenues of the park, an old cast-iron arch, and the mix of Georgian and later buildings around the square. Eilidh explains how the university's expansion reshaped the square over the last century.

After a short sound check in the park, the walk moves at an easy pace toward the square, with time for questions throughout. Eilidh answers as you go and sends a short note afterwards on which buildings around the square are open to the public.

It suits anyone interested in how a university shapes a city around it, and works well for prospective students or their families. It also appeals to those who enjoy open green space.

  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
