Balloons over Cappadocia, filmed from a ridge at sunrise
Highlights
- Wind conditions deciding the flight
- Dozens of balloons lifting off together
- Pilots timing the calmest air
- The full valley view from the ridge
- One of the region's most recognisable sights
About this tour
This session films the sunrise balloon flights from a ridge above the valley, starting before the light appears and ending with the full spread of balloons in the air. You see the dark valley waiting for the wind decision, then dozens of balloons lifting off as the sky lightens, and finally the complete view from the highest point on the ridge. Each stop builds toward the same morning spectacle from a different stage.
I open with a sound check in the dark, then we wait together while you ask questions about the conditions. I try to keep the camera steady as the balloons rise so you get a clear, continuous view. Afterwards I send a short note on the morning's conditions.
This suits anyone who wants to see the balloons without flying themselves, or who is deciding whether to book a flight after seeing them from the ground first. It also suits an early riser looking for the region's best known view.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Cappadocia before heading out.
-
Ridge Before Sunrise 21 min
The camera looks out over a dark valley as the first light starts to appear. I explain how the wind conditions decide whether the balloons fly that morning at all.
-
Balloons Rising 21 min
You see dozens of balloons lifting off across the valley as the sky lightens. I point out how the pilots time their ascent to catch the calmest air.
-
Full Valley View 21 min
From the highest point on the ridge, the camera takes in the full spread of balloons against the fairy chimneys below. I explain why this particular view has become so recognisable.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Cappadocia: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Gözleme and Uçhisar, worth a slower look.
Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
