A merchant's furniture, a cathedral's walls
Highlights
- Furniture carved with trade connections
- A merchant's house, read through its wood
- A cathedral's exterior, closely examined
- Construction details easy to miss
- Craft inside and stonework outside
About this tour
This session looks at craft from outside a building this time, alongside furniture from inside another. You see carved furniture inside a merchant's house, then the exterior stonework of the town's Byzantine cathedral. It moves between one interior and one exterior detail.
I explain the furniture's carving and its trade connections first, then spend longer on the cathedral's exterior construction, since most visitors focus only on what is inside. Questions about either are welcome throughout.
This suits anyone who has already seen the cathedral's frescoes and wants its structure explained too. It also suits anyone who prefers furniture and craft over painted interiors.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
