Gràcia's Festa Major, explained on a call
Highlights
- Streets decorated around a different theme
- Neighbours planning months in advance
- A festival explained outside its season
- Photographs standing in for a filmed walk
- Gràcia's biggest week, unpacked
About this tour
This call explains Gràcia's Festa Major using photographs rather than a live filmed walk, since the festival itself runs for only a week each August. You see decorated streets from past years and hear how one street plans and builds its decorations months ahead. It is a seasonal story told outside its season.
I talk through a handful of streets using my own photographs, taking your questions on how the tradition works as they come. Afterwards I send a short list of which streets tend to compete each year.
This suits anyone visiting outside August who still wants to understand the festival. It also works well as background before visiting during the festival itself.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
