About this tour

This longer session follows Saklıkent Gorge from its entrance to the point where the walls open out again. You see the narrow opening, the boardwalk running above the cold stream, the tightest point of the gorge overhead, and finally a wider platform with visible rock layers. Each stop builds on how water has shaped this stretch of limestone.

I open with a sound check at the entrance, then we move deeper into the gorge stop by stop while you ask questions about the geology. I slow down at the narrowest point so you notice the change in light and temperature on camera. Afterwards I send a short note explaining the rock layers we saw.

This suits anyone interested in natural landscapes rather than only historical ones. It also suits a traveller deciding whether the drive inland from the coast is worth the time.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 10 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Fethiye before heading out.

  2. Gorge Entrance 21 min

The camera looks up at the narrow opening where the limestone walls rise on both sides. I explain how the river cut this deep into the rock over a very long time.

  3. Boardwalk Over the Water 21 min

You see the wooden walkway that runs above the fast, cold stream at the base of the gorge. I point out where the water comes from higher up in the mountains.

  4. Narrowest Point 21 min

We reach the section where the gorge walls close in tightest overhead. I explain why the temperature drops noticeably at this point compared to outside.

  5. Riverside Platform 21 min

The camera settles on a wide platform where the gorge opens out again. I point out the layers visible in the rock face and what they tell us about how it formed.

  6. Your questions 18 min

Time to ask anything about Fethiye: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  7. A short list to keep 8 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Gözleme and Kayaköy, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Istanbul time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 6 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
