Highlights
- A river buried beneath a park

- A garden built by design, not accident
- Nice's greenest stretch, explained
- A park most visitors just walk through
About this tour
This session follows Promenade du Paillon, a long strip of gardens and fountains built directly over a river that was covered decades ago. You see how the city gained an entire park by burying the water beneath it and how the fountains were designed to invite play rather than just be looked at. It is a session about a very deliberately designed piece of the city.
We move at an easy pace along the gardens, stopping longest at the play fountains. Questions come in throughout, and I will hold the camera on anything someone wants a longer look at. A short note on the park's history follows the call.
This suits anyone who wants a calmer, greener session away from the old town's crowds. It also works well as a lighter session between busier walks.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Nice before heading out.
-
The buried river 21 min
The camera looks along a long green strip of gardens and fountains, built directly over a river that was covered decades ago. I explain why the river was buried and what the city gained by doing it.
-
The play fountains 21 min
Further along, you see a stretch of ground-level fountains where children run through jets of water without warning. I point out how the design was chosen deliberately to invite this kind of use.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Nice: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Socca and Vieux Nice, worth a slower look.
Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
