Highlights

  • Veli Varoš, the old fishermen's quarter
  • The old Jewish cemetery on Marjan's slope
  • The Telegrin viewpoint over Šolta and Brač
  • Pine forest paths away from traffic
  • Sunset from the Prva vidilica stairs

About this tour

This session climbs Marjan hill from Veli Varoš to catch the sunset from the Prva vidilica stairs. The camera moves from the old fishermen's quarter and the Jewish cemetery on its lower slope, up through pine forest to the Telegrin viewpoint over Šolta and Brač, and ends where the light is best at the end of the day. It is built around timing as much as the route.

After a short sound check, the walk climbs steadily through the stops above, timed so the last part lands close to sunset, with questions taken as the path allows. A note on the best time to attempt the same walk follows the call.

This suits anyone who wants Split's quieter side away from the palace and the waterfront, and anyone who simply enjoys a walk that ends with a sunset. It also suits someone deciding when to fit this climb into their own visit.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Split before heading out.

  2. Veli Varoš 21 min

The camera moves through the old fishermen's quarter, its stone houses climbing the lower slope of Marjan, and the guide points out the old Jewish cemetery on the hillside as the path passes it.

  3. Telegrin viewpoint 21 min

Further up, away from the traffic and under pine cover, the camera reaches the Telegrin viewpoint, looking out toward the islands of Šolta and Brač.

  4. Prva vidilica stairs 21 min

The walk ends at the Prva vidilica stairs as the sun goes down, the camera holding on the colour over the sea while the guide points out the islands turning dark one by one.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Split: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Soparnik (savoury pie) and Varoš, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Zagreb time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
