About Ivana

I grew up in Veli Varoš, the old fishermen's quarter under Marjan, and my grandmother still says she is going "into town" when she walks ten minutes to the palace. I studied archaeology in Zadar and spent three summers on the excavations in the palace substructures, which is why I get a little too excited in the cellars. Most people see Diocletian's Palace as a backdrop for cafés. I like to show how people actually moved into it, blocked up the arcades and built kitchens between Roman columns. My walks are slow and small. I stop at the Peristyle, the vestibule where the klapa singers practise, and the Golden Gate, but also at a laundry line strung across a Roman wall. I speak Croatian, English and Italian, the last one thanks to a year in Padova. You can now join my walks through Split live on video, from any device, and ask me questions as we go.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
