About this tour

This session traces a short stretch of Evora's medieval walls, starting at one of the surviving gates and following the wall line as it curves through the old town. You see the gate itself and, further on, houses built directly against the fortification. It gives a sense of how the walled shape still governs the city's streets today.

We check the connection at the gate, then move along the inner wall line for the second stop, taking questions about which sections are oldest. I send a short note afterwards with the gate names covered.

It suits anyone interested in how a medieval boundary keeps shaping a modern town, and travellers looking for a quieter walk away from the main square. This session stays along the inside of the walls rather than circling the whole town.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Evora before heading out.

  2. A surviving gate 15 min

You see one of the old medieval gates still marking an entrance to the walled town, and I explain which centuries added to the fortification over time.

  3. The wall line from inside 15 min

The camera follows the inner line of the wall as it curves past houses built directly against the stone, and I point out where later buildings absorbed sections of it.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Evora: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Ensopado de borrego (lamb stew) and Aqueduct quarter, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Lisbon time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
