About this tour
This walk follows the layers of migration in the East End, from the Huguenot weavers' houses on Fournier Street to a building on Brick Lane that has been a church, a synagogue and a mosque. You see the market halls of Old Spitalfields, once full of fruit and vegetable sellers, and murals nearby on Hanbury and Sclater Streets. It is the same few streets read through each community that has called them home.
The session opens with a sound check, then walks between the houses, the market and the mosque in an order that follows the area's history forward. Questions come as the walk goes, and a short list of the streets and their stories follows by message afterwards.
This suits anyone interested in migration and how a single neighbourhood keeps being remade. It also suits those who know Brick Lane for its food and want the history behind the street as well.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
